My two youngest were born in 1991 and 1992. We bought them the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Pokémon, X-box 360 and Play station 2 not 3; iPods but not iPads.
Two items not on the list above that my kids also got for Christmas were Barbie Dolls for my daughter, Hot Wheels for my son, and Legos for both. Playdough was another one.
I miss the days when they used to actually play with toys, and when they wanted to play board games. Now the things they occupy their time with, does all the playing for them.
My favorite Christmas presents, as a kid were board games, especially Candy Land, Chutes & Ladders, Monopoly, Checkers, and Scrabble.
My other favorites included, paper doll cutouts, playdough, color forms, jacks, playing cards, roller skates, a bicycle.
As a teenager my favorite Christmas presents ever was a record player and my favorite records to play on it were from The Monkees. The Partridge Family, The Jackson Five, and The Osmond's.
My best favorite gift as a teen was a red Panasonic Toot-a-Loop radio. I was rough on that radio because I took it with me everywhere, for the longest but, and it lasted for many years.
A tape recorder was another great gift I received as a teen. I was thrilled to play my favortie songs, sing along with them, and then play back the song with my voice on the tape.
My favorite present I received as an adult was a Native American sterling silver butterfly ring, decorated with coral and turquoise gems, that I lost years ago, and was never able to find one exactly like it. Puka shell necklaces were also a great gift.
What were your favorite gifts when you were a kid, and what did you enjoy receiving as a young adult?
